What's On - Art Classes and Events in July & August

Here comes the Summer! Make some time for creativity with a range of workshops in our HQ building on Main St, Bangor.

Vouchers & Gifting

With so much workshop choice, a voucher is the perfect gift for your arty loved ones!

Boom Vouchers can be redeemed against any workshop using the Boom Studios ticketing system.

At the moment, they are not redeemable againsts Jewellery classes or Bangor Sketch Club membership/tickets, as those facilitators use their own booking system. You can contact Gabriela for jewellery, and Jenni for BSC.

Tots to Teens - Art & Craft Workshops for Children

Marianne is back later in July with Messy Mornings and After School Art Club, both running through August.

Graham has 3 iCreate digital arts sessions this July, taking a break in August.

Comic Club is back with Sam from Big Dipper Arts facilitating this popular session for ages 5-12, guiding them to create and illustrate their own stories.

Bangor Sketch Club has junior tickets available (must be accompanied by a participating adult), July is the field trip to Tollymore Forest Park. August venue TBC! Life Drawing’s monthly Saturday session features a clothed first hour, perfect for GCSE/A-level portfolio work.

Workshops for Adults

Open Art is on a short break and returns 15th July - community drop-in on Wednesday mornings. Click the logo to view scheduled session activities and details.

Louise’s popular Life Drawing classes feature a weekly class with nude model, whereas the first hour of the longer Saturday session provides a clothed model.

Heather’s Circle of Seasons Craft Collective continues through the calendar - guiding you through a year of mindful, seasonal projects.

Les is back full steam with his weekly abstract sessions on a Tuesday evening, and longer monthly class on a the first Saturday of the month.

Gabriela’s jewellery classes remain popular both with the Jewellery Social on a Friday, and longer themed jewellery making class on the Saturday.

Bangor Sketch Club usually takes a break in July however the members have opted for a summer field trip to Tollymore! See the web page to join in, limited visitor tickets available.

Anarchomedy perform their latest material on the last Saturay of the month - here in July, having a break in August.

Although these classes are specifically for over 18s, some of our adult class facilitators may accept younger participants by arrangement, with an additional participating guardian, subject to availability and the suitability of the activity. Please get in touch with the facilitator to enquire.

Boom returns to Castle Espie this Summer!

Late Night Art Bangor - July sees the hotly anticipated Eco Takeover month!

With an exciting exhibition featuring all sorts of local artists, working to the eco theme either in materials, messaging or another part of their practice, there will also be stalls and visiting organisations too.

We love to see it! The City comes alive at night for Late Night Art Bangor.

Volunteering at Boom Studios - Get Involved!

This month we’re proud to receive the Volunteer Friendly Award, an international quality mark recognising our good and ever-improving practices in volunteer management at Boom.

We’re always looking to welcome new volunteers to the studios and are mid-roll-out of a new recruiment process, policy and handbook. Please sign up via the About Us section above and we’d love to see you in the studios soon.

Recent events include Sea Bangor passport stamping station, where we made badges, bookmarks and promoted ourselves in general, or you may like to help Marianne with Messy Mornings, lend a hand at Chilli Fest graffiti wall, pick up a roller for a spot of DIY, or welcome visitors to Late Night Art Bangor. Always changing, always flexible, always welcome.

Sketchbook Library Applications are Now Open

Get your sketchbook, fill it in whatever way you like, return it to us for exhibition in the autumn! Please note orders made now will be dispatched in the new year
