Sketchbook Library 2026

Following the success of our 2025 library & exhibition, we are doing it again!

This project has been inspired by The Brooklyn Art Library -SketchBook Project and has been made possible with a kind contribution of sketchbooks from Christopher Murphy.

This blog is to update participants on the project. If you would like to participate, please order your sketchbook on the link below. There is a contribution of £10 towards programme costs. Sketchbooks are soft-back and A5 size, so easy to pack on the go! Multiple sketchbook submissions are welcome.

The aim of the project is to create a small library of sketchbooks that can be viewed by the public in the project space at Boom Studios during the Autumn.

There will also be an opportutinuty to exhibit individual wall/free-standing artworks, developed from the sketchbooks, in the project space. You can submit an artwork any time using the form below.

 Key Dates

Artwork Intake date and time:

All artwork and sketchbooks should be delivered directly to the 1st floor of Boom Studios, 80 Main Street, Bangor, BT20 5AE  on Monday 14th September between 10am and 2pm. Alternative delivery must be before 14th Sep, by arrangement with staff.  The building is not generally open so you must pre-arrange alternative deliveries.

The organisers reserves the right to refuse late submissions. 

Exhibition  Opening: 

Exhibition Installation: 23rd September – 25th October 2026

Opening Hours:

Celebration Event Thursday 24th September 2026 6.30pm Late Night Art, Bangor. 

The Studios will also be open to workshop attendees, which is approximately 100 - 150  people per week. 

We may be able to post additional open hours closer to the time, subject to staff/volunteer availability.

We would encourage all artists participating to please attend  the celebration event and to invite  family members,  friends, clients to visit the exhibition.

Collection of work will be from 26th of October  -  details to follow.
