First, a quick shout-out about our Studiomates Spring Sale! This Thursday, 29th May

Part of Late Night Art Bangor - many works significantly discounted to give our artists some more studio room!

Here comes the Summer! We have plenty of events and art classes for kids and adults, in our workshop in sunny Bangor, Co Down.

Learning new skills, making friends, booking some me-time, whatever your reason, we’ve something for all ages!

Our workshops are led by experienced art facilitators and the company will be friendly and relaxed so come along, and why not grab a friend and make a social event of it?

Tots to Teens - Art & Craft Workshops for Children

Messy play is on a Summer road trip! The regular Monday mornings will move to the Walled Garden for June, and we introduce two popup Sunday activities at Cockle Row Cottages in Groomsport.

Get Messy after school art club for primary ages rounds out the Summer term, and iCreate digital arts club is back on the first Saturday.

The first hour of the monthly Saturday life drawing class is also clothed, ideal for GCSE & A-Level students looking to add to their portfolio.

Here’s the full lineup!

Workshops for Adults

Our facilitators are raring to go this June - we have loads of art classes for adults! Check them out below.

Claire’s back with brand new Macrame classes - out at the latest Boom studio site in Thornleigh Gardens. More hands-on craft is available back at HQ with Gabriela’s jewellery social and Saturday jewellery workshops.

It’s the last class of term for sketch walk and landscape painting - park theme this month, enjoy the summer weather (or a cafe view!) and practice objects on the move with waterfowl and parkrunners all present, then explore getting to grips with green, and techniques for trees in the afternoon painting class. Other painting options include the introduction to oil painting for a relaxed, guided session, and Les’ Abstract classes where you learn to let go and have fun experimenting!

Oonagh continues with her popular mixed media bookmaking and journalling classes, Heather connects to culture with the Celtic Wheel of the Year inspired crafts, while life drawing provides a session for all abilities, whether relaxation or technical practice.

Although these classes are specifically for over 18s, some of our adult class facilitators may accept younger participants by arrangement, with an additional participating guardian, subject to availability and the suitability of the activity. Please get in touch with the facilitator to enquire.

Open Art

We’re delighted that Open Art continues with a light-touch format, supported with some Good Relations Project funding.

Drop in to Boom Studios from 10:30-12:30 each week for a themed art activity, free of charge, and engage with your local community. All welcome. See https://www.boomstudios.org.uk/news/open-art for details.

Late Night Art Bangor

We love to see it! The City comes alive at night for Late Night Art Bangor.

Fresh gallery, workshops, events, visit our artists in the studio, learn about our work!

Volunteers Week 2nd-8th June - Get Involved!

We’re always looking to welcome new volunteers to Boom. Recent events include last weekend’s Sea Bangor stall where we promoted Boom Studios, or you may like to help Marianne with Messy Mornings, pick up a roller for a spot of DIY, or welcome visitors to Late Night Art Bangor. Always changing, always flexible, always welcome.

We’re hosting a Volunteer recognition event on Friday 6th June from 2-4pm, why not RSVP, come along for some coffee & cake and learn a bit more. If you like what you see we can arrange a brief induction and sign you up to the mailing list.
