Artist Statement

“I have been collaborating with Brian Young the lead singer of Rudi (the first band to perform in the trident) to create a box that is factually and historically correct. He has helped me choose bands who used to regularly perform at the trident around the time of the release of “Alternative Ulster” .

We decided on a tartan back ground. We used badges, they are regularly used in punk fashion culture and have helped us to authentically include bands who were key players at the time. The badges are all iconic and well recognised on the scene, the girl also was used in posters at the time and is still used on a badge that is still sold by Terri Hooli.

The safety pins and zips all add the to punk vibe. I will also write the famous lyric from Alternative Ulster somewhere on the box but I haven’t quite decided where yet. I think once I get the rest on I’ll know.
