Teens - Get in to Art at Boom Studios!

Often feared as that grey area between the kids classes and the adults.. What can teenagers come to at Boom? Let us update you.

The Official u-18s List

Classes, workshops and events specifying categories for under-18s:

Life Drawing has a clothed hour for the first part of the monthly Saturday class, perfect for GCSE & A-Level students.

iCreate Digital Arts Club is ideal for those who like to involve technology in their creativity, with innovations in digital illustration, animation and music as regular themes. Ages 8-14.

Bangor Sketch Club has a junior ticket option for 12-17s (accompanied). Gain confidence as you sketch on-location around Bangor/further afield with club members/visitors. Small group.

Later this month - Young Aspects Literary Festival has a great programme over 27th Feb-1st March, including some events at Boom - check it out here.

Don’t forget Late Night Art Bangor, when our doors are open to the general public from 6-9pm with exhibitions, events and open studios, where you can chat to some of our artists and see their studios. Last Thursday of the month (except December), sign up to our newsletter!

18s-19s can avail of the full Creative Days Programme!

From drawing and painting to journalling and exploring the seasons, jewellery and comedy, we have 11 events & classes scheduled in the workshop/locally. We’d be absolutely delighted to welcome you.

It’s not necessarily the case that under-18s can’t attend the general programme. However some classes aren’t, and may not find it feasible to be, set up according to safeguarding protocols needed for u-18s to attend unaccompanied. Please click on any events of interest, and follow the link to contact the facilitator with any enquiries (each class is run by a freelance arts facilitator).

That wee bit younger?

It can be tough to find something for tweens to get stuck in to.

Get Messy Art Club runs to p7, whilst Comic Book Club runs up to age 12. See also Young Aspects Literary Festival above.

Volunteering at Boom - Young Volunteers and Families

We are currently working on a more defined volunteer pathway, which would set out the levels of involvement for all ages/stages of volunteer at Boom.

This includes School/college/university-arranged work experience, specific youth volunteering projects, acompanied volunteering, all of which lead in to the general Boom volunteer pool for over 18s and, for those who love being a regular part of our volutneering culture, lead volunteer opportunities.

If you would be interested in volunteering, you can get started here!
