Youth Late Night Art Bangor @ Boom - February

Youth Late Night Art: A Creative Night for Young Artists and Their Families

Youth Late Night Art is a free, welcoming creative event for young people aged 17 and under, taking place on February 26th, 2026, from 6–8pm at Boom Studios, 80 Main Street, Bangor (BT20 5AE).

The event is organised by Rachel Steenson, a practicing artist and youth arts facilitator who regularly teaches art classes for young people. Through her work, Rachel has seen how important it is for young creatives to have opportunities outside of school to share their work, build confidence, and feel proud of what they create. Youth Late Night Art was developed to give young people that experience in a relaxed, supportive, and encouraging environment.

The event is open to all art forms, including visual art, painting, sculpture, illustration, graphic design, music, spoken word, poetry, performance, and anything in between. Young artists can choose to perform, display their work, sell their art, talk about their creative process, or simply come along and take part in the atmosphere.

Although the event is advertised as 17 and under, this genuinely means all ages are welcome — from teenagers right down to very young children. A 4-year-old who wants to draw, paint, make music, or perform is absolutely welcome. Creativity at every age and stage is encouraged.

For safeguarding reasons, all children must attend with a parent or guardian. Families are encouraged to stay, support their young artists, and enjoy the event together. Friends, siblings, and extended family are also very welcome — the aim is to create a warm, community-focused evening where young people feel supported and celebrated.

Youth Late Night Art gives young creatives hands-on experience that they don’t often get elsewhere, including:

  • Displaying artwork in a real creative venue

  • Performing music or spoken word in front of an audience

  • Learning how to talk about their work and creative ideas

  • Gaining early experience of selling artwork if they wish

  • Building confidence in a low-pressure, friendly setting

Hosted at Boom Studios, the event reflects a shared commitment to making creative spaces more accessible to young people, while keeping the focus firmly on the artists themselves.

Applications to take part are now open, with all artists selected by January 26th, 2026.

Youth Late Night Art is about encouraging creativity, building confidence, and bringing people together — celebrating young talent while creating a supportive space for families, friends, and the wider community to connect.
