We've got the Keys! Boom Studios 4
We are so excited to share the news officially - Boom Studios 4 is go!
Boom Studios is set to expand into its 4th creative hub. Adding to our 2 venues on Main Street, and one in Ballyholme, the new site will offer extra studio capacity to creatives in the Borough.
Local artists, designers and makers have started moving into the heritage building at 8 High Street, which has recently been partially-renovated with Boom Studios in mind. Built in 1891, the building has seen life as a hotel and still bears many original architectural features, which will be retained.
Local artists recently spent a day working in and responding to the building in August (images shown), for Boom’s “Wee Residencies” event, with the resulting work now being showcased in Boom Studios HQ building.
Staff member and studiomate Jenni Robinson is one of the artists moving over to the new site, and will also act as our staff liaison, helping to coordinate new arrivals and getting the building set up for use.
The new building will be closed to the public whilst studio members move in and improve their individual spaces. Tours will be arranged in future - make sure you’re signed up to Boom Studios newsletters to hear more.
Expressions of interest for remaining studios are invited via this link - fill in the form to join the availability mailing list.
Marianne Kennerley, Director of Boom Studios
We are absolutely delighted to have secured the use of 8 High Street for the growing creative and cultural sector in Bangor. We first visited this building 13 years ago and it’s a building we have considered before during our 12 year history. When the owners reached out to us early this year, it was the right time for us to move forward. It is wonderful to receive recognition for the impact our social enterprise makes to the community. We look forward to reactivating this space and bringing a new lease of life to it.
Richard McCracken, Linen Coal (Landlord)
I’m thrilled that Boom Studios are beginning their tenancy at 8 High Street, and look forward to seeing local creatives bring a new lease of life to the building.
Nico Fell, Co-Chair, Boom Studios
This is an exciting time for Boom Studios, and I wish all our studiomates the very best as they set up their new spaces.
