Stunning Conclusion to the Celebration of Art & Dance Project at Aurora

Installation now Complete & Exhibition at Boom this Late Night Art

The Celebration of Art & Dance project concludes with a public art installation at Bangor Aurora, and an exhibition of work from the programme at Boom Studios (opening this Late Night Art Bangor).

We’re so proud of Les Sharpe having such vision on this project, and guiding a wonderful group of participants to produce this amazing public art installation. With thanks also to studiomate Jessica Martin for her assistance throughout the sessions.

Last week, the final main artwork was installed at the Aurora Leisure Complex and unveiled in a ceremony filled with pride. Huge contratulations to all involved. View the art on the ground floor - above the studios beyond the cafe seating area.

An exhibition of smaller works and development of the project will be on view this Thursday night (28th May) at Late Night Art Bangor - visit it at Boom Studios from 6-8.45pm (and thereafter during open times).

See below article for project details.

Introducing the Project:

We're enjoying seeing outcomes of the "Celebration of Dance and Art project" at Bangor Aurora.

Boom Studios is delivering art sessions in partnership with Northern Community Leisure Trust (NCLT)'s dance programme, with the aim of improving wellbeing and confidence of expression in over-55s through both physical movement and the social and creative activity.

With a few weeks still to go, the group will culminate in a collaborative artwork that will be exhibited at the Aurora, and subsequently at Boom Studios (exhibition details TBC).

Boom artist Les Sharpe leads the art sessions, with Aurora staff leading the dance elements. With themes such as "movement & social connection" and "physical movement & flow" under their belt, we look forward to the upcoming weeks including Movement & Coordination, Choreography & Health and Collaborative Dance, and the associated development of artistic style coming together.
