3 Ways Boom Studios can Enhance your Creative Career

Boom Soup - a lunch get-together for studio artists to catch up and socialise

Boom Studios is our amazing creative hub in Bangor, Northern Ireland.  One of our many purposes is to foster a community space, both physical and virtual, in which creatives can get the headspace and assistance they need to develop and grow.  From physical space to peer support, here are 3 ways that being part of Boom Studios’ community can boost your creative practice.

1 - Space to Work

How often have you thought you would get more done if you didn’t have to clear the table for dinner, or wait until the laundry was put away to get the easel out in the spare room?  Maybe it’s a noisy atmosphere, or the distraction of all those “life tasks” guilting you, eating into your creative time.

There are different ways in which Boom can provide you with headspace/workspace and give yourself the permission to prioritise creative work.

Studios - If you’re ready to take on a dedicated space outside of your home, we have 2 buildings of studio space and a waiting list begging for a third… get in touch with marianne@boomstudios.org.uk to enquire and join the list. We’re a friendly bunch - organising social lunch dates, nights out, Christmas parties, etc.

Co-working space - We have dedicated desk-hire appointments where you can book a day-space to crack on and nail those admin tasks, or work on tabletop art/craft projects. Includes printing facilities, wifi and access to our kitchens, stocked with tea, coffee and biccies.

Workshops & Classes - not sure where to start, or feel like your practice is missing something?  Many of our classes are ideal for practicing artists who want to sharpen skills, pick up a new craft or work outside their comfort zone.  Why not try life drawing, abstract art or field sketchbooking.  If you’re looking to bring your own work to do alongside others, try Create & Chat on the last Saturday afternoon of each month. Sometimes just booking that appointment to get out and do something creative is just the kick start you need.

2 - Our Free Facebook Group and Artists’ Newsletter

What it says on the tin - our friendly online group will be happy to chat, feed back on projects and assist on all things art.  Also sign up to our artists’ newsletter, where Gabriela sends out an invaluable list of opportunities available at the moment.  From funding to residencies, jobs and learning events, it truly is a great resource.
