Fundamental Art Skills - Spotlight on Classes

Boom Studios is proud to boast a range of classes suitable for all ages and abilities. Some of those classes, as well as welcoming beginners, have been particularly established as artists’ favourites when they need to sharpen up a certain skill, or branch out in to a different way of working.

Check out our top pick of classes for practicing artists:

Drawing Skills with Big Dipper Arts

Sam has been running his beloved Drink & Draw evenings around Bangor for a while now, and we are delighted that he has started this new class in Boom Studios on a Friday evening.

Ideal for anyone wanting to go back to the fundamentals of drawing and master their own technique.

Abstract Art & Intuitive Painting Techniques

Weekly on Tuesday evenings as well as a longer monthly class, Les provides a fun guided session using a different technique or method each time.

A great class for artists looking to explore or experiment with colour, alternative mark-making and a bit of lateral thinking.

Life Drawing

One of art’s most challenging skills, the ability to accurately render the human form on paper!

Bring your own materials, whether you prefer to paint, sketch or draw, and work alongside a friendly group of people in a respectful environment to practice your technique.

The first hour of the monthly Saturday class draws a clothed model so is perfect for younger art students as well. Classes are generally a nude model.

Field Sketchbook Walks with Jenni Robinson

Meet up at Boom for a cuppa and to chat about your sketchbook intentions for the session before heading out on a short local walk for a morning of observational drawing.

Teaching you to experiene the live environment and develop your techniques to translate that in to imagery and mark-making, these guided walks are ideal for those looking to develop original source material, or an experimental visual practice as well as honing drawing and compositional skills.
