Jewellery for Teens

Wednesdays 4:30 PM - 6 PM
12-15-YEAR-OLDS

Cost £17.50 per person/5 sessions
Maximum 7 participants

This programme has been funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland via their Young People and Well-Being Programme. To cover the full cost of the program a small contribution is required from the participants during registration.

This workshop offers space and time to explore jewellery making techniques and materials in a fun and relaxed environment. The projects are structured to allow for a natural progression of skills while making unique pieces of jewellery.

In the first block of five sessions, you will have an opportunity to try different techniques including beading, wire wrapping and basic metalsmithing.
In the second block, you will develop your own independent project that you will have space and time to work on over the five sessions.

You will learn how to saw and shape silver, you will try simple soldering techniques and get some tips and tricks on how to finish the piece to a high standard. The workshop is intended for complete beginners, but if you already have experience in jewellery making, you will be able to advance your skills as well.

The workshop is for young people aged 12 - 15
The maximum capacity is currently 6 participants to ensure that everyone receives the support they need.

If you have any allergies (primarily copper, nickel, silver) or relevant health challenges, please get in touch and consult if this workshop is safe for you.

All tools and materials are provided.

Participants are eligible for 1 round (10 sessions altogether) of one, or each of the jewellery and journalling classes.  Although the programme will continue all year, priority for new rounds will be given to those who have not completed that class before.
In case there are free spaces left, previous participants will be invited to book.
We are thankful to ACNI funding, which allows us to offer a heavily subsidised fee of £3.50 per session.
